About Cyptone L Syrup

LYSINE+CYPROHEPTADINE+PEPTONE belongs to a group of combination medicines called 'appetite enhancer' used to stimulate the appetite and treat alimentary tract and metabolism problems. LYSINE+CYPROHEPTADINE+PEPTONE helps treat lack of appetite, weight loss, and anorexia nervosa (an eating disorder with low body weight). Besides this, it is also prescribed for underweight children who have an inadequate dietary intake, loss of appetite, anaemia, liver/digestive disorder, antiretroviral (anti-HIV drugs) treatment for weight gain, and adjunct to anti-tubercular (anti-TB drugs).

LYSINE+CYPROHEPTADINE+PEPTONE belongs to a group of medicines called Appetite enhancer used to stimulate the appetite and increase body metabolism. LYSINE+CYPROHEPTADINE+PEPTONE is a combination of three appetite enhancers, namely: Lysine, Cyproheptadine, and Peptone. Lysine is a building block of essential proteins which improve appetite and digestion. Cyproheptadine works by reducing the effect of serotonin (a chemical messenger) in the hypothalamus (a part of the brain) which regulates appetite. Peptone increases the production of a protein (cholecystokinin) which controls appetite and food intake. LYSINE+CYPROHEPTADINE+PEPTONE is indicated for loss of appetite, weight loss, and anorexia nervosa (an eating disorder with low body weight). LYSINE+CYPROHEPTADINE+PEPTONE is also prescribed for underweight children who have an inadequate dietary intake, loss of appetite, anaemia, liver, or digestive disorder.

Additionally, LYSINE+CYPROHEPTADINE+PEPTONE is also used as an adjunct to anti-tubercular (anti TB) and antiretroviral treatment (anti-HIV) for weight gain. The LYSINE+CYPROHEPTADINE+PEPTONE helps stimulate appetite, ensures weight gain, provides effective hepatoprotective action, and enhances protein synthesis. It is also indicated in hepatobiliary disorder (liver disease) associated with anorexia (lack/loss of appetite).

Directions for Use

Take LYSINE+CYPROHEPTADINE+PEPTONE with or without food. Take the prescribed dose/quantity of LYSINE+CYPROHEPTADINE+PEPTONE using the measuring cup provided by the pack, shake the bottle well before each use. Depending on your medical condition, your doctor will decide how long you need to take LYSINE+CYPROHEPTADINE+PEPTONE.

Drug Warnings

Do not take LYSINE+CYPROHEPTADINE+PEPTONE if you are allergic to any of its contents, if you have peptic ulcers, prostatic hypertrophy, bladder neck obstruction, or pyloroduodenal obstruction, and glaucoma. Inform your doctor before taking LYSINE+CYPROHEPTADINE+PEPTONE if you have asthma, hyperthyroidism, high blood pressure, intraocular (eye) pressure, or heart problems. LYSINE+CYPROHEPTADINE+PEPTONE may show additive effects if taken along with alcohol and CNS depressants, and anti-anxiety drugs. Consult your doctor before taking LYSINE+CYPROHEPTADINE+PEPTONE if you are pregnant. It is not recommended to take LYSINE+CYPROHEPTADINE+PEPTONE if you are breastfeeding. LYSINE+CYPROHEPTADINE+PEPTONE may cause drowsiness, so drive with caution. Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking LYSINE+CYPROHEPTADINE+PEPTONE as it may cause increased drowsiness. 

Drug Interactions

Drug-Drug Interaction:

 LYSINE+CYPROHEPTADINE+PEPTONE may have interaction with an antihistamine (diphenhydramine, cetirizine), an antidepressant (duloxetine, fluoxetine, sertraline), anti-convulsant (pregabalin, topiramate), and anti-psychotic (quetiapine).

Drug-Disease Interaction:

LYSINE+CYPROHEPTADINE+PEPTONE should be cautiously administered when you have any liver or kidney diseases, asthma, heart, diabetes, and swelling/inflammation of the pancreas (acute pancreatitis).

Safety Advice

ALCOHOL

• Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking LYSINE+CYPROHEPTADINE+PEPTONE as it may cause increased drowsiness.

PREGNANCY

• There is limited data on how the LYSINE+CYPROHEPTADINE+PEPTONE affects pregnancy. LYSINE+CYPROHEPTADINE+PEPTONE should be used during pregnancy only if the benefit outweighs the risk. Please consult your doctor if you are planning to become pregnant or already pregnant before starting LYSINE+CYPROHEPTADINE+PEPTONE.

BREAST FEEDING

• It is not recommended to take LYSINE+CYPROHEPTADINE+PEPTONE if you are breastfeeding.

DRIVING

• LYSINE+CYPROHEPTADINE+PEPTONE may cause drowsiness. Do not drive or operate machinery unless you are alert.

LIVER

• Please take LYSINE+CYPROHEPTADINE+PEPTONE with caution and doctor's advice if you have a history of liver diseases/conditions. Your dose may be adjusted in case of any liver impairment.

KIDNEY

• Please take LYSINE+CYPROHEPTADINE+PEPTONE with caution and doctor's advice if you have a history of kidney diseases/conditions. Your dose may be adjusted in case of any renal impairment.
